Committees

The Tax Committee has developed a strong commitment to both the members and non-members of the real estate industry to provide a means to exchange ideas and to remain current on the ever-changing laws.

The Tax Committee communicates to the members through the Newsletter, the Annual Conference, and the Tax Conference. The Annual Conference presents speakers with current knowledge of both the technical aspects of topics covering current income tax and property tax developments, as well as the political and cultural environments relative to these tax areas.

The Tax Conference provides an opportunity for tax specialists and other members within the member companies to participate in smaller groups that will concentrate on issues concerning their companies. Prominent real estate tax professionals present both the technical and practical aspects of these issues.

The Tax Committee informs the members of significant changes in tax legislation that are vital in the tax management and tax planning of their companies. The Tax Committee participates in The Real Estate Roundtable (RER), the most influential voice of the commercial real estate industry in the area of federal tax legislation, which monitors and develops tax positions and presents these positions to the members of Congress and its tax writing committees. Periodic meetings of the Tax Committee also provide an opportunity for members to share common concerns and to develop appropriate responses to legislative initiatives.
